Landscaping Gardens

Landscaping a garden can be a relatively simple and straight-forward process. Tasks such as laying a patio or a new lawn on a weekend can be a worthwhile and satisfying job. However, major landscaping i.e. removing 100% of the existing garden and replacing it with new is an entirely different game. It’s fantastic to see the comparison between ‘before and after’ photos of gardens, but what is often not shown are the in-between stages, the heaps of soil, hardcore, the process of working out how the levels change, the myriad of lines drawn (and redrawn) on the soil and discussions and alterations along the way. Garden design doesn’t stop with drawings on paper – it actually stops when the garden is built and completed – it’s a complete process of decision making. Here are a few photo’s of a current project……

Demolition of the exiting driveway walls (badly built) and widening of the driveway. The extension to the rear of the digger was also demolished.

First steps to working out levels and leaving an access point for machines into the back garden.

Digger in the front garden (lawn area) landscaping the levels back to their original Victorian gradients.

A few retaining walls in place and paths start to take shape where they will eventually be.
